Why you should talk to your children about the dangers of hooking up

Nine teenagers were seriously injured. Many of the victims suffered burns to more than 50% of their bodies, which means long-term treatment, multiple surgeries, and lifelong consequences. The railway's overhead contact line can shock you without even touching it. The voltage in it reaches 27,500 volts - 125 times higher than in a regular household outlet.

An electric shock on a railway can lead to:

severe burns;

amputations;

damage to internal organs;

lifelong disability;

death.

Due to the popularity of hooking videos on social media, teenagers often do not realize the real consequences of such actions and perceive it as "extreme entertainment" or a way to get attention.

In this regard, parents, teachers, and all adults are urged to:

talk to children about the deadly dangers of choking;

explain that a catenary can kill even from a distance;

pay attention to the content that teenagers watch and share;

to remind you that no video or photo is worth your health or life.

To draw attention to the problem, Ukrzaliznytsia, the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, and the Dovidka.info security project have prepared a special animated video about the dangers of hooking.

"We ask adults to share this video in parental, neighborhood, and local chat rooms. Even one timely conversation can prevent a tragedy," said Mykola Balaban, deputy head of the Center for Strategic Communications.

Summer is a time for safe vacations, not tragedies. Talk to your child now - it could save their life.
