briefing

The head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko, held a number of important meetings and participated in nationwide events this week.

He offered UNICEF representatives cooperation in creating safe spaces for children – Child Care Space – based on relocated medical facilities and humanitarian hubs in the region. Support for the Luhansk Regional Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center “Vidrodzhennia”, which is currently operating in Transcarpathia, was also discussed.

Special attention was paid to providing the center with modern equipment to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to children with disabilities and at-risk groups.

In addition, Oleksiy Kharchenko took part in an expanded meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, chaired by Andriy Yermak. The focus was on the issue of returning to Ukraine orphans and children deprived of parental care who are currently abroad or remain in temporarily occupied territories. It is expected to create a special register and introduce "hotlines" to assist in the search and return of children.

Support for the Ukrainian Defenders remains an important area of work. The regional Defense Council approved over UAH 67 million to support military units holding the front in Luhansk Oblast. Since the beginning of the year, almost UAH 880 million has been allocated for these needs.

The Lysychansk community provided the defenders with over 400 thousand UAH in assistance, and since the beginning of the year this amount has reached 3.5 million UAH.

Systemic social support is also ongoing. By the Day of Knowledge, 65 children of military personnel from the Lysychansk community received cash assistance, and five more families received payments in connection with the birth of children. In total, such assistance has been provided to 23 families since the beginning of the year.

The regional communities paid significant attention to the health of children: over 270 in the summer

boys and girls from the Seversko-Donetsk community and about 400 from Rubizhanska had the opportunity to relax in camps and sanatoriums in Ukraine and abroad.

The Luhansk regional administration expressed its sincere gratitude to Carolina Lindholm Billing, UNHCR Representative in Ukraine, who is completing her mission in our country. Thanks to her support, internally displaced persons and communities in the region received vital assistance during the most difficult times.

The region continues to preserve the memory of its Heroes. This week it became known about the death of our fellow countryman Denis Shevtsov from Lysychansk, who defended Ukraine in the hottest parts of the front and was awarded the Presidential Medal "For the Defense of Ukraine".

The 100th anniversary of the State Archives of Luhansk Oblast was also celebrated, which, despite the forced relocation, continues to fulfill its mission of preserving and popularizing the history of its native land.
