Military counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service have collected evidence on Kyrylo Belousov, a former contract soldier of one of the mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who defected to the enemy.
As the investigation established, in January 2023, he left the positions of Ukrainian troops during the fighting in the Siverskodonetsk district of Luhansk region and joined the armed groups of the Russian Federation.
In the ranks of the Rashists, he was appointed commander of the so-called volunteer detachment and sent to fight in the Pokrovsky direction.
It was documented how in 2024 the attacker participated in assaults on the defense lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Novogrodivka.
In addition, Belousov repeatedly gave interviews to Kremlin propagandists who were filming commissioned stories in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.
During such speeches, the defendant praised the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the occupation groups of the Southern Military District of the aggressor country.
Based on the evidence collected, investigators from the Security Service in absentia informed Belousov of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed under martial law);
Part 7 of Article 111-1 (voluntary participation of a citizen of Ukraine in illegal armed or paramilitary formations created in a temporarily occupied territory, and/or in armed formations of the aggressor state).
Comprehensive measures are underway to find and punish him.
The investigation was conducted by SBU officers in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Field of Defense of the Eastern Region.
