I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!
I just spoke with Chancellor Merz, and before that today we already spoke with European Council President Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. It is important that the European support package for Ukraine is unblocked – 90 billion euros for two years. These are funds that have already been approved by the European Council, but were blocked. Now there can be no excuses for blocking. The European Union asked Ukraine to repair the Druzhba oil pipeline, which the Russians destroyed. We repaired it. We hope that the European Union will also implement the agreements. There has been no progress for a long time on new sanctions against Russia for this war. This does not help at all when America is easing restrictions. There must be pressure so that the Russians do not feel that they can fight calmly and without consequences.
Today we spoke in detail with the military - there was a report by Commander-in-Chief Syrsky and Chief of the General Staff Gnatov. We understand what the Russian army has in mind and what its priorities are: there are relevant maps. There are details. We will counter. The forces and means for this have been determined. Our next operations have also been agreed upon - Ukrainian long-range sanctions will work and reduce Russian capabilities. The war must be ended, and diplomacy will not bring it closer by itself, pressure on the aggressor is needed so that the war goes to an end.
We also spoke in detail today with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Fedorov - together with the military command. There are things that need to be done to motivate our military more - both in terms of staffing units and additional funding for the army. Decisions are being prepared.
One more thing. We agreed with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Svyrydenko and the Minister of Economy Sobolev that in the coming weeks we will decide on additional economic measures that will help Ukraine become stronger. We need a more strategic, systematic approach that will allow Ukraine to rely on its own strength more significantly and give society now, in the conditions of this war, the opportunity to live with more dignity. This applies to both the tax strategy, and the de-shadowing of the economy, and real support for Ukrainians and Ukrainian business.
I thank all our people who fight for the interests of Ukraine as if for their own sake. Thank you to everyone who helps us!
Glory to Ukraine!
