I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!
I just spoke with the President of the United States of America, with President Trump. I congratulated him on his birthday, on the day of the American army: today is two holidays in America, and we had a very good conversation with him. There were not only greetings - there were many key topics: about the war, about its roots, about diplomatic opportunities, and about the positions of our partners. We talked for a long time, in great detail.
We have one wish for President Trump – for all Ukrainians – that peace can finally be achieved, that we can achieve this success together with America, together with all our partners. This is the most important thing that we all want, and it is important that American society fully supports this Ukrainian aspiration of ours, the aspiration for a decent peace – supports us in defending ourselves from the Russian war.
And President Trump's absolutely correct words today were, in particular, about our Crimea: it was with the seizure of Crimea by Russia that it all started and that if there had been strong leadership then, the whole war simply wouldn't have happened. It wouldn't have happened.
I thanked the President of the United States of America for all the assistance that the United States has provided. We agreed on our meeting with him: in the coming days in Europe there will be G7 formats, of course, Ukraine and our defense, our opportunities to come to peace will be among the main topics. There is already an active schedule for the entire next week. Also – with our European partners and all participants of the G7.
It will be an important week, we are counting on the results. First of all, of course, air defense for Ukraine, political agreements that will strengthen our defense here in Ukraine, there will be the opening of a cluster - a cluster for Ukraine and Moldova, and steps towards long-term peace: we will discuss with our partners some ideas that are not yet public.
Today we also have something to thank Britain for, especially: the British detained a Russian oil tanker off their shores, and this is the first such step by the British. Over the past year, the detention of the Russian shadow fleet has become a good tradition in European seas. The oil must stop so that the Russian war comes closer to a stop. Thank you, Britain!
We will also talk to our partners in Europe about legislative changes that will finally allow for the continued arrest of tankers that earn money for the war for Putin, exclusively for him, and to confiscate this oil.
Today, we in Ukraine have also published fresh intelligence data – about reports and documents that are being put on the table for the Russian leadership. The reports are unpleasant for him – and they are not entirely true. The ratings of both Putin and his ruling party are declining, and very noticeably. The trend cannot be changed – he should know about it, he should feel it, especially when responding negatively to our proposals for a meeting, negotiations, and a real end to the war.
Of course, I am grateful to each of our soldiers, to all Ukrainians who defend the positions of our state, who work for Ukraine, who help us defend our national Ukrainian interests. This summer, we must all be as effective and active as possible - we do not waste a single day and do not miss a single opportunity. We are counting on the results from next week and we are working, working for this.
Glory to Ukraine!
