Head of Luhansk Region Oleksiy Kharchenko honored the courage of the "Aydar" with regional awards and handed over equipment for the front

Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Oleksiy Kharchenko visited the location of the 24th separate assault regiment "Aidar" to personally congratulate the personnel on the day of the unit's creation.

The 24th Separate Assault Regiment "Aidar" (24 OSHP) is an elite unit of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, formed back in May 2014 as the first volunteer territorial defense battalion of the Luhansk region. Today, it has grown into a full-fledged regiment that continues to perform the most difficult tasks at the front.

Back in 2014, the "Aydar" performed complex combat missions in the Luhansk region: they participated in battles for the Luhansk airport, the city of Shchastia, and other settlements.

The region provided the soldiers with three new pickup trucks, a batch of drones, and other necessary military equipment that will help strengthen the unit's combat capability on the front line.

Oleksiy Kharchenko personally handed over the keys to the transport to the regiment commander, Major Oleksandr Kovalenko - Hero of Ukraine from Severskodonetsk!

In addition to technical support, Oleksiy Kharchenko recognized the personal courage of the servicemen by presenting seven soldiers with the “Defender of Luhansk Region” badges of honor. This award is a symbol of deep gratitude for the heroism shown while performing combat missions in the most difficult areas of the front.

"Currently, systemic assistance to the Defenders remains our key duty, especially when it concerns our fellow countrymen. Because it is thanks to the resilience and professionalism of the "Aydar" and other units that the Luhansk region continues to resist the enemy," the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, Oleksiy Kharchenko, summed up the meeting.
