The update of the Labor Code is part of Ukraine's European integration commitments and approximation to European standards in the labor sphere. The project envisages the implementation of over 30 EU directives, in particular on working hours, transparent and predictable working conditions, reconciliation of work and family responsibilities, labor protection and other areas.
The draft Labor Code provides, in particular:
- digitalization of labor relations, equating electronic documents with paper documents and the possibility of concluding an employment contract in electronic form;
- systematization and expansion of types of employment contracts in order to legalize work formats already used in the market;
- introducing clear signs of employment relationships to reduce legal uncertainty and shadowing;
- a transparent approach to determining the minimum wage, including hourly and monthly measurements and a calculation formula consistent with international standards;
- transition of labor inspection to a risk-oriented model with a focus on preventing violations and protecting the life and health of workers.
The government approved the project and is submitting it for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
