A ceasefire always adds opportunities for diplomacy and should precede a real end to the war – President's address

I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!

There have just been reports from the Security Service of Ukraine - Major General Khmara and Major General Poklad. I am grateful that our operations are always strong. I also want to note the units of the Service, which, together with other elements of the Defense and Security Forces, protect Ukraine on the front lines. The SBU Special Purpose Center "A" is the first in March in the use of drones, and most effectively. The military experts of the SBU also distinguished themselves in setting up protection for some of our partners in the Middle East - within the framework of those expert missions that were sent by Ukraine to the region. Thank you, soldiers! Our expert missions will continue their work in the countries of the Middle East and the Gulf. Building a new defense system is a task that remains, and based on our long-term agreements, we will attract the necessary units.

Today, the United States of America has switched to diplomacy in the situation around Iran, and the world supports it. A ceasefire always adds opportunities for diplomacy and should precede the real end of the war. Ukraine has always approached this war – Russia against Ukraine – with the same position. Of course, it is not easy to implement, and now efforts are still needed in the Middle East to stabilize the ceasefire so that it works. But in the end, everyone should have one goal, namely – more security. Even the announcement of a ceasefire has allowed the markets to react positively – the price of oil has decreased. At the same time, this is the right signal to Russia – that in addition to our long-range sanctions, other instruments will also work. In fact, there can be no reason to reduce the pressure of sanctions – earlier this was talked about as a kind of need to ease problems on the world oil market. And if it is possible to unblock the Strait of Hormuz – and this is a global need – Russian oil revenues should continue to decline. Oil fuels the Russian war and makes Russia confident in itself. And that is why the Russians invested so much in supporting the Iranian regime, trying to drag out that war. Nobody needs a war. And it is important that now not only the countries of the Middle East, not only the Gulf, but also Europe and other key parts of the world draw the right conclusions, namely security conclusions, after what happened. We need more bilateral security cooperation between countries - with those who really know how to protect life. We need more coordination with our neighbors and more cooperation at the regional level: by helping our neighbors, you help yourself. We need to really resolutely defend the basic values of normal life - there are tools for this - including protecting free navigation. Now the whole world has seen how much each country depends on what is happening in one region. The cost of living depends on this - all prices for basic energy resources. There is no point in checking what will happen if some other critical region loses its security. We need to act and interact to add security. Ukraine is ready to work with all partners in the future so that security exists and is greater. We are preparing appropriate meetings and agreements in Europe. I thank everyone who helps! I thank our soldiers and all our people who make the defense of Ukraine possible.

Glory to Ukraine!
