"Almost 94 million UAH were allocated by the communities of Luhansk region to support the Defense Forces. 10 military units will receive the subsidy. Since the beginning of the year, more than 700 million UAH have been allocated from the Luhansk region budget for the needs of the front," said Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, during a weekly briefing.
Supporting Ukrainian servicemen is a systematic work of communities. The Lysychansk city military administration has sent 430 thousand hryvnias in aid to the Defenders: 14 defenders received one-time material assistance as participants in measures to ensure the defense of Ukraine, and six more were paid money in connection with injuries. Since the beginning of the year, such support has already been provided to 99 defenders for over two million hryvnias.
Oleksiy Kharchenko noted that last week, events were held aimed at supporting residents of the region, military personnel, internally displaced persons, international cooperation, and honoring the Defenders of Ukraine.
The central event was the solemn celebration of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine.
The Ambassador of Luhansk Region was Hero of Ukraine Volodymyr Zhemchugov, and he added that on the Day of the Constitution of Ukraine, representatives of Luhansk Region were also awarded state awards: the Order "For Merit" of the 3rd degree was awarded to the director of the relocated LLC "Rubizhanka Hosiery Manufactory", Gennady Misyurenko, and the honorary title "Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine" was awarded to the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Health and Sports of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Oleksandr Dubov.
The title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star (posthumously) was awarded to Lieutenant Serhiy Matvievsky from Svativshchyna. The defender of Ukraine went from a fighter of the Luhansk-1 special forces police battalion to an officer of the Omega Special Forces Center. He died in November 2025 while performing a combat mission in the Pokrovsky direction.
Systematic support for internally displaced persons continues. Throughout June, humanitarian aid was received by Luhansk residents living in Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Korostyshev, Zvyahel, Vinnytsia, Ternopil and other settlements in Ukraine. The displaced were given food kits, hygiene products, baby food, clothes, bedding, furniture, toys and other necessary items. The family-type orphanage and the small group home "Svitanok" also received assistance, and 60 beds were transferred to the hostel for internally displaced persons in Kyiv.
International cooperation of Luhansk Region is developing. Thanks to the cooperation of the Luhansk Regional State Administration and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Lithuania, 25 children from families affected by the war went to the city of Joniškis for rehabilitation. A cultural and educational program was organized for them, including excursions to historical places in Lithuania, visits to the Parliament, museums, creative master classes, as well as a trip to the Baltic Sea and a vacation in Latvia.
