About the situation in Luhansk region as of the morning of 08/20/2026

Preparing to mobilize - in the "LPR" they have intensified checks on drivers and passengers, in Siverskodonetsk the occupiers have started to turn off the gas, the Russians have carried out six mortar attacks in the Luhansk region

"Over the past day, the enemy has been shelling the territory of our region mainly from mortar installations. Using them, he fired on six occasions. He directed five FPV drones towards the Ukrainian defenders. He also carried out 11 drone drops," said Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the regional military administration.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy tried to advance 11 times. He attacked near six settlements.

In the so-called "LPR", the occupiers are preparing for parliamentary elections. The population is preparing for the consequences that are expected after the September referendum. They understand there that forced mobilization will be intensified. Men have found themselves under even greater control. So, already in August, vehicles are being carefully checked around large cities. Considerable attention is paid to men - drivers and passengers.

The only thing the Russians could boast about in the occupied territory was the gas supply. The relevant infrastructure suffered minimal damage during the assaults, so they were able to restore gas supply in most cities. Unlike the water and electricity supply, which are still experiencing significant problems in the so-called "LPR". But questions began to arise about gas supply. For example, the other day, the "blue fuel" disappeared from a significant part of the population of Siverskodonetsk. This is especially true of the old districts of the city. So now there are high-rise buildings that simultaneously lack electricity, gas, and water.
