Greetings from the Head of Luhansk Region, Oleksiy Kharchenko, on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day

"We are a free state!" - despite the explosions of rocket attacks, sleepless nights in bomb shelters, and pain for their devastated native cities and villages, Ukrainians proclaim to the whole world.

For the people of Luhansk, Independence Day has a special meaning, because for a third of the 35-year history of free Ukraine, we have been fighting for its sovereignty, for our right to be a nation, for the return of the blue-yellow flag to the Luhansk land.

Thousands of our compatriots are waiting for him there, keeping Ukraine in their hearts.

And no matter how long this war lasts, we will return! Not as guests! We will give back their names to the streets. Their voices to the cities. A European future to the children.

Our memory to the fallen.

We may be separated by kilometers, fronts, and borders, but we are a blue-yellow family!

Luhansk region is an integral part of Ukraine. And the enemy is not able to change this truth!

May the blue sky once again be over the entire country. May the yellow field stretch to the most remote Ukrainian village of our Luhansk region.

We remember those who gave their lives for this.

We support those who today hold the island of Independent Ukraine on our, Luhansk, sector of the front.

And we believe in the day when the blue-yellow flag of victory will fly over the entire Luhansk region.

Happy Independence Day!

Glory to Ukraine!
