I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!
Today, the most important thing is gratitude to all mothers. Thank you for your care, we often have to thank you for your courage, and invariably for your loyalty. Mother's Day in Ukraine is a truly national holiday, and we hope that all Ukrainian sons, all daughters who have this opportunity, said this to their mothers today: thank you. And those whose parents, unfortunately, are not with us, remembered their mothers. It is a very important day. It is important not to forget to show this attention.
It is nice that as of now, today there have been no massive attacks – missile strikes, air strikes. But there has been no peace in the frontline areas, in the communities near the front. The Russians continue their assault activity in those areas that are key for them. There are shellings, there have been drone strikes of various types on the front. Yesterday and today there have been more than 150 assault actions, more than a hundred shellings and almost ten thousand more strikes by kamikaze drones. That is, the Russian army does not observe silence at the front and does not even particularly try. All our Ukrainian units act in a mirror manner and protect our positions exactly as needed. As for our long-range sanctions – yesterday and today Ukraine refrained from long-range actions in response to the absence of Russian massive attacks. In the future, we will react in the same mirror manner, and if the Russians decide to return to a full-scale war – our sanctions for this will be immediate and will be tangible. Distance is becoming less and less important – we have shown this with our long-range capability. Ukraine has always behaved clearly and honestly in this regard.
Our contacts with the American side about guarantees – guarantees of the implementation of the agreements that were reached recently and that the President of the United States of America said about – are ongoing. The exchange of prisoners – one thousand for one thousand – is being prepared and must be carried out. The Americans took on these guarantees. The Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters handed over the lists per thousand to the Russian side. There was American mediation in this agreement on the exchange, accordingly, we expect that the American side will be active in ensuring the implementation of the agreements.
And a few more things. Our soldiers at the front, in fact in all combat brigades, are talking about long-caliber artillery - long-range artillery shells. Kill zones are increasing, the use of drones of all types is a priority. But the soldiers themselves say: artillery is needed. And long-range artillery. Now we have a new and very strong agreement with Norway: we will begin joint production of the long 155th - exactly the shells that we need. I thank Norway for such a necessary step. We are already preparing for our diplomatic work this week. There will be meetings - today Alex Stubb and I, the President of Finland, talked about them and coordinated positions. There will be formats that are effective. Ukraine needs support every day. Air defense - no matter what happens, we are preparing for defense. We provide our soldiers with everything they need.
There is a separate topic that we are discussing with the American side - namely, security issues. And we are definitely working to ensure that our diplomacy has all the necessary strong positions, together with every partner who can strengthen Ukraine.
Now Putin himself says that he is finally ready for real meetings - we pushed him a little, and we have been preparing for meetings for a long time - so we need to find a format. We need to end this war - and reliably guarantee security. We thank everyone who helps us!
Glory to Ukraine!
