June and July should be productive for Ukraine and for our entire Europe - President's address

I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!

We are already preparing for the diplomatic events of next week – it should be very active, starting from Monday. The European Union has confirmed its readiness to open the first cluster, and this gives new momentum to our negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. We have done absolutely everything for this progress, and I am grateful to everyone who helped and to everyone who works for our state. Ukraine is ready to open six clusters, and we expect that this summer we will be able to achieve more results for our integration into the European Union. At least there will be no delays on our part. And it is very important that the partners also feel the full significance of this process.

We hear from many leaders that not only does Europe need Ukraine, but Ukraine needs Europe, and this is true. And given Russia's long-term intentions - the fact that Russian bases are now being built near Europe even in places where there were no military bases in Soviet times - this definitely indicates that without Ukraine, without our capabilities and our experience, Europe can be extremely difficult. We must take all this into account. Security challenges from Russia - not for a year or five years, Russia has chosen a long-term anti-European, anti-democratic strategy and is building its policy around it. Nothing else is heard from Moscow. Unless they are trying to bribe certain politicians with certain benefits. But not for the sake of peace, but for these politicians to simply sell out the interests of their nations and the common interests of Europe to Russia. In the end, they will lose, like Orban, but many will still try to befriend Putin's wallets and turn a blind eye to what is really happening.

I want to thank all those who are still fighting for their peoples and for the interests of Europe and for security in Europe, security with Ukraine. Personally, I want to thank the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa for their joint work and all European leaders, each and every one who makes strong and fair decisions. I also congratulate Moldova on this progress. Ukraine and Moldova are together overcoming this distance to full-fledged accession to the EU. Among all the European nations that have already joined the European Union or that see such a prospect for themselves, it is Ukraine that gives the most for the sake of Europe. We are not just carrying out internal reforms and not just going through transformation – we are fighting for our state, for our independence and for our right to independently choose our path and be Europe. And this is our right – at the same time the right of every people of our region, we are fighting for our freedom and theirs, for Europe for ourselves and for them – for the Baltic states, for Poland, for Hungary and Slovakia, for Romania and Moldova. For the peoples of the Caucasus.

That is why the fate of Europe is being decided here, in Ukraine, in this war and in how this war will end and whether Russia will still have the strength and desire to encroach on the lives of Ukraine and other neighbors, on all of our Europe, after this war. That is why we must end this war with dignity and with guaranteed security. And we will talk about this with partners at the G7 summit in France and later at the European Council summit and in Ankara - at the NATO summit. Negotiations and meetings in Europe these weeks should not be empty. We are filling them with content and expect content from partners. Political progress in our interaction, in particular in the Drone Deals format, new sanctions against Russia, new support for Ukraine, first of all support for air defense and our long-range capability.

We are proving that Ukrainian long-range capability is crucial, now in middle strikes throughout the entire depth of the temporarily occupied territory and in deep strikes against Russian oil facilities and military enterprises. There were good hits in the SBU this day - in our temporarily occupied Crimea. And in our army - on the territory of Russia itself: in the Volgograd and Krasnodar regions, specifically against oil facilities. June - July should be productive for Ukraine and for all of our Europe. Thank you to everyone who is with us - who is with Ukraine! Thank you to our soldiers for their accuracy and strength in positions.

Glory to Ukraine!
