Arms exports should become a long-term source of economic strength for Ukraine – President’s address

I wish you health, dear Ukrainians!

Briefly about this day. Today I held a detailed and very practical meeting on our weapons: what exactly is needed for our defense in Ukraine in larger volumes and what exactly can be exported to further strengthen Ukraine, to strengthen our ties with the world - additionally and in the long term. Arms exports should become a long-term source of economic strength for Ukraine. We are working out the details: the National Security and Defense Council, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the parliamentary component, so that any regulatory changes are not delayed.

We are also actively working with the government so that in June Ukraine receives funds from the European support package of 90 billion euros. We fought for this package, and it has been approved, and procedurally it is necessary that now, in the summer, the funds are earned for Ukraine - for our stability, for our defense, for helping our people, Ukrainians. And it will be.

There is also progress in our negotiations with the European Union on Ukraine's membership. We will have a very clear schedule of opportunities for progress in the negotiations, especially after the changes in Hungary. We have met the deadlines. And now, in June, we are very much looking forward to moving on to the opening of clusters, which Ukraine has prepared. We have done our part of the work. And now it is a step behind the European Union. In fact, our team is in communication with the EU side every day, and this is important, very important for our motivation - for the motivation of all our people. Every positive news from the EU confirms that Ukraine is on the right track and that the partners are with us, with Ukraine.

We are also preparing meetings with some of our most capable partners in Europe - we are counting on good, strong decisions, and this is important. Our priorities are absolutely clear: air defense for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia for the war, our joint arms production with partners, political interaction and real support for Ukrainians who are going through this full-scale war. Ukrainians must feel that our state is not alone in its defense. And we provide this. Connections with the world are one of the foundations of our defense, something that significantly strengthens Ukrainian independence.

I thank everyone, I thank everyone who is with us, who is with Ukraine.

Glory to Ukraine!
