In order to protect national interests and prevent the dissemination of data that may help the enemy, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine appeals to citizens, media representatives, and administrators of social media communities with an urgent clarification.
In conditions of martial law, any careless publication can become a tool in the hands of the aggressor for adjusting fire or planning new attacks.
What is strictly forbidden to publish?
It is necessary to refrain from publishing the following data in the media, social networks (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and messengers (Telegram, Viber):
- Hit locations and consequences of shelling (until the official information is released).
- Video and photo materials showing the work of the air defense system.
- Movement of military equipment, weapons and personnel.
- The exact location of infrastructure facilities, logistics hubs or deployment points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Any other information that allows us to identify the positions of our defenders.
Criminal liability
Unauthorized dissemination of such information is subject to severe penalties under Ukrainian law.
According to Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons, ammunition, as well as the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations, committed under martial law, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 12 years (depending on the severity of the crime and the consequences).
Your post or video on social media is not just content, it is data that the enemy can use to target their next missile. Information hygiene today is the key to preserving the lives of our soldiers and civilians.
It is necessary to consciously approach content creation, trust only official sources of information, and warn loved ones about the dangers of sharing sensitive data.
Together to victory! Let's remain silent for the sake of Ukraine's security.
