In Kyiv, the Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration - Head of the Regional Military Administration Oleksiy Kharchenko took part in a solemn event on the occasion of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports and the European Week of Sports.
The event was attended by athletes, coaches, sports veterans, and representatives of sports organizations and institutions.
The Day of Physical Culture and Sports is traditionally celebrated every year on the second Saturday of September in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine. At the same time, the European Commission declared the last week of September the European Week of Sport - an initiative aimed at promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Those present honored the memory of Ukrainian Heroes with a minute of silence, including athletes from Luhansk Oblast - Oleksandr Peleshenko, Andriy Lyfar, and Maksym Taranukha.
During the celebrations, Oleksiy Kharchenko delivered a welcoming speech and presented state awards and regional distinctions to athletes, coaches, and sports figures.
In particular, the title of "Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine" was awarded to Vasyl Drozhzhyn, a coach of the KDYUSSH No. 4 in Severskodonetsk. Prizewinners of international competitions, coaches, representatives of federations and authorities who made a significant contribution to the development of sports in the Luhansk region also received awards.
The head of the youth and sports department of the Seversko-Donetsk MVA, Olga Dutova, was awarded a certificate of honor from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Oleksandr RUDENKO, a physical education teacher at Gymnasium No. 14 in the city of Seversko-Donetsk, Luhansk region, was awarded a LETTER OF THANKS from the Luhansk Regional State Administration - Luhansk Regional Military Administration.
"The athletes of Luhansk Oblast are an example of strength, endurance, and resilience. You glorify our region at the national and international levels, inspire people to an active lifestyle, and prove that even in the most difficult times it is possible to achieve high results. We are proud of each of you," emphasized Oleksiy Kharchenko.
