Serviceman Mykhailo Karabut has been appointed as a freelance advisor to the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. The corresponding order was signed by Oleksiy Kharchenko on April 16, 2026.
This was preceded by the fact that on March 27, Mykhailo became a candidate from the Luhansk region to the Council of Veterans of the War for Independence of Ukraine - everyone present at the regional veterans' meeting voted for him unanimously. Currently, the Defender actively represents the interests of the Luhansk region in the Council of Veterans under the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs of Ukraine.
Karabut is a native of Siverskodonetsk and has a significant combat career: in 2022, he joined the 111th Territorial Defense Brigade, and today continues to serve as part of the Third Army Corps.
In addition, the newly appointed advisor is actively working in the field of supporting the Defenders as the head of the specialized information resource "Veteran Knows" and participates in the work of the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada on the issue of finalizing the wording of the Veterans Code.
The main priority in his new position, Mykhailo Karabut, has identified the creation of an effective veterans' community in the region, which will unite the existing needs and opportunities for military personnel. The first step will be to collect and systematize all existing local support programs in communities in order to present them in the most accessible and understandable format for veterans.
"It is important for us that veteran policy in the region is formed by people who have real combat experience and a clear vision of the future. Therefore, Mykhailo's position is an important step for the administration towards the veteran community of Luhansk region. I already see specific plans and actions from him in this direction," Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, comments on the appointment of the advisor.
