A year after his military service, he signed a military contract and returned to serve in the border troops, guarding the border of Ukraine in the Luhansk region as part of the 3rd border detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Yevheniy Pikus. Vyacheslav became a professional soldier, the contract followed the contract. At the beginning of the Russian aggression in 2014, Vyacheslav was on border duty in the village of Horodyshche, Luhansk region, and was later transferred to the city of Zolote, where he patrolled the section of Ukrainian territory assigned to him. Vyacheslav graduated from the military department of Khmelnytskyi University, received the rank of senior lieutenant. He received numerous awards from the command and from the President.

Vyacheslav Chichin died on April 22, 2022 near Yampol in the Donetsk region, when during enemy shelling, a piece of debris flew into the car in which he, along with the driver and three comrades, were moving to other positions and hit the engine. A split second was enough for Vyacheslav to assess the situation - in a closed car during the explosion, no one had a chance to survive, so he covered the grenades with his body, saving his comrades from certain death at the cost of his life.

By the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated March 28, 2022, he was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree.
